FANHS AUTHORS PANELS

What is an Authors’ Panel?

It has been a tradition for writers who have published books over the past two years to share their works during an Authors Reception. Given the amazing increase in pinay/pinoy authors over the years, we have decided to have an Authors Panel everyday of the conference.

Four to five authors will be on a panel and each will be given 7-10 minutes to talk about their book. Authors may choose to talk about the major themes in the book, the book’s contribution to Filipino studies/history, etc.  A brief question and answer period with audience members will follow. Panels will be organized by topics (Education, YA Fiction, Historical, Memoir, etc.).

Who can apply?

FANHS is seeking authors who have published a book within the last five years that either directly or indirectly addresses Filipino-American experiences, history, culture, etc., and has not yet been presented at a previous FANHS conference. We are hoping to cover a range of topics- fiction, memoirs, academic are all encouraged to apply.

Authors accepted to the panel must also pre-register for the conference by January 31st 2016, and be present for their panel. If authors do not register by this date, they may be dropped from the program.

Applications must be submitted by January 30th 2015. Applications received after this date will be reviewed on a space-available, case-by-case basis.
